Protein intolerance

What is protein intolerance?

Protein intolerance is a term which encloses a wide range of conditions and diseases. Their common denominator is that they are triggered by foreign proteins, i.e. proteins from food or microorganisms (f.ex. in the gut).

Gastrointestinal problems are often seen in protein intolerance, and mental illness is not uncommon. Quite commonly, an inflammation of the intestines and so-called "leaky gut" is found. The treatment is to remove the harmful food types and to improve the gut flora using probiotics if there is a gut flora disturbance.
